Online Support Meeting with guest speakers from Northwest Adoption Exchange
Northwest Adoption Exchange (NWAE) helps connect youth in foster care with families who are looking to provide a permanent home. Tonight, Jess Tholmer (she/her) and Naomi Kolb-Untinen (they/them) from NWAE will speak to the overrepresentation of LGBTQ+ youth in foster care, including in our region. They’ll highlight a particular LGBTQ+ teenager they’ve recently worked with who’s looking for her adoptive home. They’ll also give preliminary information about how to start the process to become a licensed foster parent, or to adopt from foster care.
NWAE brings a strength-based approach to adoption recruitment by directly empowering, engaging, and involving youth in the search to find their adoptive family. NWAE maintains high standards and believes in the importance of respecting the safety, privacy, and dignity of youth in foster care. Northwest Adoption Exchange is a program of Northwest Resource Associates.
PFLAG Seattle provides much-needed support to LGBTQ+ people and their families in the Seattle community. Now, we’re proud to continue providing you trusted support, meeting you where you are—wherever you are.
